House fire off highway ‘accidental’

Local brigades attended a house fire off Bussell Highway on Friday December 1, after the blaze began about 8.30am.

The fire was external and the house’s interior only had smoke damage amounting to a couple of thousand dollars, according to a Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman.

“The cause of the fire was accidental,” she said.

“Police were called, but only because the incident may have required traffic management.”
