Dunsborough florist Susie Lindley has been named a top-10 finalist in the Tesselaar's Top Gun Wedding Design competition.

The florist, who beat more than 1300 entries from around Australia, entered two photos in the competition last month to make the top 10.

Ms Lindley entered a photo of a bouquet and photo of buttonholes she created for a wedding earlier this year.

She said was shocked when she found out her buttonholes were chosen in the top 10 of the flowers to wear category.

"I was amazed that I had made it to the top 10. There were a lot of other amazing pieces that were entered," she said.

The competition which ran through October has three categories - flowers to wear, flowers to carry and flowers to decorate.

Ms Lindley said she was a late starter in the industry and only became a florist two-and-a-half years ago. "I used to work in marketing and when my daughter went into Year 12, I thought about what I loved doing and that I hadn't really done it yet," she said.

"I went and studied to be a florist and haven't looked back; it's amazing and I have amazing clients."

Voting closes November 26 at 9am.
