Mental Health and Child Protection Minister Andrea Mitchell will next week visit the Capes region to discuss mental health, child protection and substance abuse.

The minister’s visit was initiated by Vasse MLA Libby Mettam, who was prompted by “many conversations” with concerned constituents.

“One of the issues we face is connecting people with the right services,” Mrs Mettam told theTimes .

“I’ve initiated this visit, I’m putting on food and we’ve made all the events free … to encourage as many people to come and raise their concerns and hear about what the Government is doing in this important area.”

Mrs Mettam said issues relating to meth were a significant challenge and something the State Government was keen to tackle.

The minister will be at St George’s Family Centre in Dunsborough from noon to 2pm, Cowaramup’s Duggan Pavilion from 3.30pm-5.30pm, and Busselton RSL from 6pm-8pm on Thursday.
