Mother kicks in for Festival crown
Jade Craigie will have her three children by her side as she strives to win the title of Festival of Busselton queen this month.
Mrs Craigie, 28, said she was inspired to enter for the competition’s 50th year because she knew organisers were short on numbers.
“Last year they didn’t have the queen competition and that’s a bit sad because we’ve always come down to watch the winner crowned, ” she said.
“I thought I would put my hand up to keep the tradition alive.”
Mrs Craigie is raising money for the Geographe Bay Football Club and has planned events including a pub-to-pub wheelbarrow push and quiz night.
Though she does not play soccer herself, she told the Times she had good friends at the club.
Mrs Craigie grew up in Busselton but has recently moved to Dalyellup to be closer to her husband’s work in Bunbury.
