NDIS disability accommodation planned for Busselton with construction to start shortly

The South West is set to welcome its first State Disability Accommodation housing project, with a new facility planned for Busselton.

In collaboration with Sana Living, West Australian Country Builders will be developing three villas in Busselton under the National Disability Insurance Scheme with construction expected to start in the next two months.

The villas will be available to rent for people with disabilities seeking independence. Project officer Carrie Anderson said the properties will provide the opportunity for participants to lead a relatively independent life.

“Those that are on the NDIS program have traditionally not been offered these housing prospects as they are limited,” she said.

“It gives them the chance to integrate with society away from the family home, in comfortable accessible surrounds.

“This provides WACB and myself with the opportunity to also make a difference to these people’s lives which is both heartwarming and extremely rewarding.”

The homes with be kitted-out with the all required facilities including live-in carer facilities in the home, electric benches in the kitchen to enable lowering and raising of height, automatic doors, blind and curtains, an accessible pantry/sink facilities in the kitchen and laundry and wheelchair access to all participant rooms and living areas.
