Rocky Ridge Brewing Co takes home four top prizes at Perth Royal Beer Awards

Local favourite brewery Rocky Ridge Brewing Co has won big on the WA stage taking out champion beer and champion large brewery at last week’s Perth Royal Beer Awards. Polski Pivo, a traditional Polish oak smoked wheat ale, was chosen as the best beer among 540 entries at the recent awards ceremony. The ale is the creation of head brewer Ross Terlick, who crafted the little known Grodziskie-style beer after many trips to Poland with his wife. With a carbon neutral and off-grid facility, the brewery prides itself on brewing beer in the most sustainable way possible. Brand manager Ricky Watt described the success as a “huge achievement”. “We couldn’t be happier to receive these accolades,” he said. “It is a massive achievement for our entire team and everyone involved in our business. “All of our staff work tirelessly to create the best beer and drinking experience possible and to receive such a massive pat on the back from industry professionals is both humbling and incredibly rewarding,” The Jindong-based brewery also won best hybrid and specialty beer (packaged) for Born Under Puncheons. Polski Pivo also picked up best hybrid and specialty beer (draught) before being crowned champion beer. The latest accolades join the long list of successes by the brewery since being founded in 2017 by Hamish Coates and Mel Holland. Mr Coates said it’s great to see the business, which recently celebrated its fifth birthday, continue its success. “Over time, our simple ideology of ‘everything we brew, we grow’ has evolved, but our desire to push the boundaries of sustainability in our industry has not wavered,” he said. “Moving forward, we are, and will continue to strive to be at the forefront of the development of our industry.”
