South West artists urged to apply for Margaret River Open Studios following record-breaking 2021 season

Margaret River’s annual Open Studios is back for another year with applications now open for the September season. The 16-day event from September 10 to 25 aims to highlight local artists in the area across all art forms. Event chairman Jim Davies said last year’s event was a record-breaking success. “Open Studios in 2021 broke all our previous records for studio visits, overall visitor numbers, art sales and positive guest experiences, so we want to ensure all of our region’s artists from Busselton to Augusta have the opportunity to benefit this year,” he said. “We welcome art in all its forms and the diversity of our artists and studios is one of the reasons our event is such a stand-out.“ He said the event provides an opportunity for new artists to get their name out in a supportive and engaged community, as well as receive feedback from other participating artists. “We also look forward to welcoming back artists who participate in Open Studios regularly, many of whom now enjoy loyal visitor and art collector followings,” he said. While the event won’t take place for another six months, Mr Davies assured COVID protocols are being adhered to to ensure the safety of everyone involved. “We are monitoring the situation and maintaining contact with WA Health, Shire of Augusta Margaret River and City of Busselton,” he said. “We expect to implement a range of COVID-safe measures at the time to keep our artists and visitors safe. “We will make all participating artists aware of these requirements closer to the event as guidelines will almost certainly change between now and September.” Artist registrations are now open online or through art@mrros.com.au.
