Surf brand spreads good vibes

Sarah IsonBusselton Dunsborough Times

Yallingup surfers released their new live store, Spread the Froth, earlier this month, which aims to promote positive beach culture.

Loz Williams told the Times the idea spawned from coaching surfers and teaching them respect and positivity.

“Being a surf coach meant having a responsibility to send surfers out into the ocean with good etiquette and good vibes,” she said. “Spread the Froth is about getting people back to just appreciating the experience, smiling and sharing the waves out there.”

Ms Williams and her business partner Prue Vaughn started the brand in 2015 but recently rejuvenated the live store and the products on offer in the hope of taking the line even further.

“We started a website a while back but recently have taken it to a new level. It’s not just the one shirt on offer anymore,” Ms Williams said.

“Now we’ve got a whole professional look, with all new designs and illustrations, and products like jumpers, beanies and hats”.

Sponsored by Colonial Brewing Company, Spread the Froth donates directly to Backpacker Medics. Ms Williams said the products and the reach of the brand were set to expand.

“We’d love to start offering things like surfboards too, and hopefully go over east to spread the message in the next 12 months,” she said.

“But for now we’re starting the growth by taking it up for the range launch in Perth because we believe people need to hear this message and if they wear the clothes, it will start a conversation.”

The brand launch will be held in Fremantle on Friday, November 24, featuring music, a catwalk and an art auction.
