Young gun’s star continues to rise

Sarah IsonThe West Australian

Since he was 12 years old, Harvey Golding has represented his State, batting and bowling his way through various successes, including the Busselton Freight Rising Sports Star Award last July.

This year alone has held big wins for 17-year-old Harvey, with a victory in outdoor cricket at the Senior Country Week in January.

Harvey said the win was one of his greatest achievements so far, as he “helped set up a huge score” for the WA team.

In 2016, Harvey was selected for the under-17s State team, with whom he went on to win the National Carnival that year. The future holds similar opportunity for Harvey, after he was selected for the under-18s Australian-side indoor cricket, through which he will once more represent his State.

Harvey said his love for the sport began after receiving a bat one Christmas Day, which he rarely put down in the years that followed.

Harvey has also represented Busselton in Country Championship Basketball for the past five years, admitting he enjoys “a bit of everything” when it comes to sports.
