AFL Draft: Silky Busselton midfielder James Tunstill heads to Brisbane with pick 41 on draft night two

East Perth and Busselton product James Tunstill has become the third South West product to land on an AFL list at this draft — heading to the Brisbane Lions with pick 41. Tunstill, who was touted as a later-pick in the draft was a surprise selection by the Lions, adding speed and class to a midfield already making regular finals appearances. The 18-year-old played in the colts for the Royals this season, but made his league debut for his home-town club in a one-off appearance. West Australian draft guru Mick Ablett told Fox Footy the South West region was “on fire” with Tunstill joining Brady Hough and Busselton and East Perth teammate Jye Amiss on AFL lists. “It has been a fantastic night (for the South West),” “I love him because he gets looks at goal, you want guys who can get forward of centre and get shots on goal and he is certainly one of them. “He likes to keep the game going forward — very, very rarely will he come out of a contest and look backwards. “It is a really nice pickup, maybe a bit of a surprise that he has gone this early in the draft but full credit to James and the East Perth footy club.” He becomes the seventh player to be drafted from the Busselton Magpies, but just the third to go in the National Draft and the first ever to play for the Brisbane Lions. Tunstill’s East Perth teammate Kade Dittmar is still on the draft board.
