Cold Chisel headed to Busselton

Australian rock legends Cold Chisel will hit the stage at Busselton’s Barnard Park on New Year’s Day as part of its Blood Moon Tour.

Set to be joined by Birds of Tokyo, Jebediah, Gyroscope, Carla Geneve and The Southern River Band, the show will be the band’s second ever outdoor performance, pipped at the post by the previous night’s show in Fremantle Park.

“We’ve only done four tours since the early 80s so we need to make each of them count,” frontman Jimmy Barnes said.

“We knew that if we were going to get the band back together for another full tour it would have to be something really special.

“We wanted great line-ups and unusual places so that people would remember these gigs for a long, long time.”

The 14-show, exclusively outdoor tour will take the group across the country and into New Zealand between New Year’s Eve and the first week of February, the two aforementioned performances the only ones in WA.

Pianist Don Walker said blood moons happen perhaps only once in a lifetime and was staggered to discover there was meant to be one on the night of the group’s Melbourne show.

“We didn’t actually know that when we chose the name... maybe it’s a sign,” Walker said.

Many of the group’s biggest hits are tipped to be included in the set, including Khe Sanh, Flame Trees and Bow River.

Pre-sale tickets will be available exclusively between October 16 and October 18 before general public sales launch on October 21 at 11am.
