After months of being closed, Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre is finally reopening its doors thanks to a helping hand from Southern Ports.

With a stellar line-up of entertainment that kicks off this weekend, BREC executive director Fiona de Garis is excited to welcome back film buffs.

“We have been desperately missing our wonderful volunteers and committed patrons these last few months and are incredibly grateful to Southern Ports for stepping up to support out film program,” she said.

With seven highly acclaimed and very different films, from seven different countries, screening across five consecutive Sundays, there is sure to be something to pique your interest.

“Our Winter Sundays film line up will take even the most inveterate South West traveller on the globetrotting journey of their dreams,” she said.

“We have a few more comedies than usual as we thought that might be needed but lovers of drama and documentaries won’t miss out.”

When he heard how tough BREC were doing it through the pandemic, Southern Ports Authority chief executive Steve Lewis stepped in.

“This is a time when we are all looking for hope, inspiration and a deeper understanding of our common humanity,” Mr Lewis said. “Coming together to experience these diverse films and be exposed to new cultures and ideas is a great way to achieve this.”

The BREC International Film Festival: Winter Sundays runs from this Sunday to August 9 with films screening at 11am and 2pm.
