Fresh out of St Mary’s College in Broome, Michael Pepper is settling into his new role as Bunbury Catholic College principal.

“Having been in a regional centre of WA already, I was really keen to continue principalship in another regional centre and was fortunate enough to be appointed to Bunbury Catholic College,” he said.

“I hope to build upon the great foundations here at the college which have been going strong since 1973.”

Mr Pepper, pictured, hopes to place student and staff wellbeing at the forefront of the college’s priorities.

“We have a wonderful community of families who support our students and our staff,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to building on the educational achievements of our students over the past years.

“We will be placing at the forefront, student and staff wellbeing as priorities for our college.”

This year, students at the college can expect a different mode of delivery from the teachers.

“We have a number of staff that are currently up-skilling and will be delivering a higher level of professional learning to other staff at the college,” Mr Pepper said.

“A particular focus this year will be on visible learning as a means of enhancing the teaching and learning in the school.

“Visible learning means there will be no secrets about what students are learning in each lesson and what success looks like.

“My favourite part about being a principal is being able to empower the teachers and students to achieve the best they can and I feel very blessed to be here in Bunbury doing just that.”
