Onshore Cup: Busselton Bombers claim fourth consecutive premiership with grand final win over Bunbury Eagles

Busselton Bombers claimed a fourth consecutive Onshore Cup premiership with a 36-point victory over Bunbury Eagles in the competition’s grand final at Bovell Park on Sunday. Having again gone through the season without a loss, the Bombers entered another season decider as heavy favourites and produced a performance worthy of their billing to run out 8.6 (54) to 3.0 (18) winners. The visitors came up with the first goal of the second half to cut the deficit back to 16 points but the winners responded with the next four majors to all but make a certainty of the result. While their dominance did not quite reach the same heights as in recent years, the Bombers still did not come particularly close to losing at any stage of their 2025 campaign, winning each of their 12 games by margins of at least three goals. The Eagles, who finished the home and away season in second with a 6-3 win-loss record, were on the wrong end of a 21-point loss to the Bombers in the qualifying final but secured what was the second grand final appearance in their brief history with a 39-point preliminary final win over Vasse Kakkas. Augusta Abalones and the Kakkas both won four games apiece to claim the last two finals places ahead of the winless Boyanup Boars. The competition was without Dunsborough Mulies in 2025 after the foundation club withdrew on the eve of the season due to a lack of players.
