The Dunsborough-Busselton Dungbeetles claimed the FMG Community Grade grand final on Saturday in Perth, edging out the Mandurah Pirates 7-5 in a pulsating contest. Trailing by five points with less than 10 minutes to play, the Dungbeetles levelled things up courtesy of a try to Josh Southwell. Aware a conversion would be enough to put the South West side in front, Shane Charlton slotted his conversion 5m in from touch. The Pirates rode their luck in the final minutes while attempting to wrest back the lead, however, their penalty goal attempt from halfway in the dying minutes was waved away, ensuring the Dungbeetles were able to hold on. It was a gutsy performance from Dunsborough-Busselton, who spent a significant portion of the game a man short, due to ill-discipline.
