The South West Slammers’ spree of pre-season re-signings has continued this week. Lively ball-carrying guard Skye Palmer has re-committed to the club and Amarah Mohammed will feature again this season. Palmer played 15 games for the Slammers last season, averaging nearly 29 minutes a night. The 18-year-old ran at just more than three points per game and averaged two-and-a-half rebounds. She will be a key feature as the group continues a rebuild under new coach Peter Nalder — Palmer’s third coach in as many years. Mohammed was used in the Slammers’ second unit last season, playing less than 13 minutes a game, but averaged three points a night in the front court. After a trio of signings last week, Shane Goff’s men’s program has also secured the services of Jack Flynn. It comes after important trio Brody England, Rhys Barrett and Cody Hill all recommitted last week. Flynn averaged a little under 18 minutes under Mark Worthington last season and put up three-and-a-half points a game. He did run at 100 per cent from the free-throw line through his 15 games last season. The Slammers open their season against the Geraldton Buccaneers at Eaton on April 9.
