SWFL 2022: Harvey Bulls manage 45-point win over Dunsborough Sharks despite storm ending match prematurely

Despite a strong cold front bringing a premature end to their match, the Harvey Bulls have managed a second win in a row after keeping the Dunsborough Sharks scoreless. The Bulls and the Sharks went head to head at the Dunsborough Playing Fields on Sunday during the eighth round of the 2022 SWFL season. Both teams scrambled for the ball during the early stages of the opening term although the Bulls were able to quickly drive the ball forward. Although the Sharks tried putting the pressure on, Harvey held strong to break onto the scoreboard with a goal from Megan Minton. From there, the Bulls took control with a further goal from Emma Faulkner along with a number of minor scores. As the Sharks struggled to get the ball past the centre, the Bulls went into the quarter time break leading 2.4 (16) to 0.0 (0). Despite rain starting to set in during the second quarter, the Bulls were still very much in control of the match, continuing to quickly drive the ball forward. While the Sharks tried their hardest in laying tackles, their opportunities to get the ball to their forward 50 were missed in the midst of interceptions by the Bulls. The Bulls continued to remain in control of the contest with further majors from the likes of Faulkner, Caitlin Shales, and Kirralee Vollmann. At half time, the Bulls led 6.9 (45) to 0.0 (0). As a strong cold front brought heavy rain, strong winds and thunder and lightning, the call was made to have the match called off, with umpires citing dangerous playing conditions. Despite the premature end to the match, the Bulls walked away with the win.
