WA under-21 men’s hockey team heading to Busselton for games and junior clinics

The WA under-21 men’s hockey team will head to Busselton for a camp this weekend as they continue preparations for next month’s national underage championships. Players will run a junior clinic at Busselton Hockey Stadium for children aged between 12 and 18 on Saturday from 9am to 10.30am. They will then play a pair of matches against a WA Regional Invitational Squad at the same venue at 5pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday, with local coaches being given the chance to observe the team’s pre and post-match briefs. WA under-21 men’s head coach Tim Geers said the camp would provide invaluable opportunities to improve on the pitch and bond closer together off it. “It also allows us the chance to give something back to regional hockey in WA,” he said. “A number of our State team athletes have come from the regions and it’s just one small way our group can help continue that legacy “We’d really like to thank the Busselton hockey community for hosting us and we hope this contributes to what is hopefully a successful tournament next month.” The team will head to the national championships in Newcastle looking to win their third title in a row.
