The third round of East Kimberley Football League took place over the long weekend, drawing solid crowds across two evenings of action.
On Thursday night, at Ingrid Harvey Oval, the Ord River Magpies continued their red-hot start to the season with a 18.11 (107) to 3.3 (21) victory over the Bow River Blues.
The Magpies controlled the contest from the outset, showcasing a potent forward line and a disciplined defence that restricted the Blues to minimal scoring opportunities.
The Magpies remain undefeated after three rounds, sitting comfortably on top of the ladder with three wins and a staggering percentage of over 400, underlining their early-season dominance.
In contrast, the Blues are still searching for their first win and sit at the bottom of the standings.
Friday night’s clash at Kununurra Town Oval saw the Port Wyndham Crocs take on the Kununurra Demons in a more evenly matched contest.
The Crocs emerged victorious, 12.9 (81) to 9.6 (60), after pulling away in the second half.
The game was lived streamed for the first time on the league’s Facebook page.
The result keeps Port Wyndham Crocs firmly in second place on the ladder, maintaining an unbeaten record from their two matches so far.
For the Demons, the loss leaves them with a 1–2 record after three rounds, placing them third on the ladder.
Despite the setback, they remain competitive in the early stages of the season.
Elsewhere, the Warmun Eagles are yet to register a win and sit just above the Blues on the ladder, with both teams looking to turn their seasons around in the coming weeks.
With three rounds completed, the Magpies have set the benchmark as the team to beat, while the Crocs are shaping as their closest challengers.
Round four matches will take place on May 1 and 2.
