The Waringarri Crows defeated the Ord River Magpies by just one point in round two over the weekend after being behind in the first term.

The Crows had the Magpies on the back foot exiting the second quarter with the Crows taking the lead from there.

Gavin Cartmel was the best goal kicker for the Magpies booting three, with Jaxon Forbes kicking two and Marice Simon, Jake Stacey and Matt Welburn kicking one each.

Despite the Magpies’ best efforts, the Crows managed to score an equal amount of goals with Jordan Scanlon showing off his talent, kicking five throughout the match with Kostya Daylight, Cecil Ningamarra and Keifan Rogers booting one each.

But by the end of the game it came down to just a point difference, with the Crows scraping home by kicking one more behind than their opponents, 8.4 (52) to 8.3 (51).

It was another close game between the Yardgee Dockers and the Halls Creek Hawks on Friday afternoon but it was the Dockers who managed to take the win by five points, 9.7 (61) to 8.8 (56).

The Wirrimanu Tigers managed to edge out the Kununurra Demons in their clash at Halls Creek oval on Saturday afternoon winning by 10 points, 13.11 (89) to 12.7 (79).

The Kundat Djaru Cats triumphed in their match up against the Yiyili Powers on Saturday, kicking four more goals than their opponents in a 29-point victory, 14.9 (93) to 10.4 (64).

The Port Wyndham Crocs forfeited their match with the Kururrungku Roos on Saturday afternoon, bowing out of games scheduled in Halls Creek for the rest of the season due to the dangers posed by the long drives to and from games.
