Hot Wheels legends tour: Perth car lovers can have their treasured vehicle become the newest Hot Wheels toy
Perth car enthusiasts are revving their engines over the chance to have their cherished vehicle immortalised as the newest Hot Wheels product.
The wildly popular collectable toy has become a favourite for vintage and modern car fans alike for years. Now locals have the chance to turn their beloved daily driver or dust-collecting car into a store bought product.
The Hot Wheels legends tour is back in Australia and New Zealand after a two-year hiatus and the highly-anticipated return gives passionate car owners and restorers a chance to flex their collection on a global stage.
Entrants can submit their prized wheels into the competition, pitting their vintage vehicle or modern masterpiece against a country of avid revheads, for a chance to be the face of Hot Wheels newest product.
The top entrants will be selected to go through to the regional finals, with the cream of the crop facing the world’s best in the global grand finale. All competing for a chance to have their car immortalised as a 1:64 Hot Wheels die-cast car that will be sold across the planet.
Open to a range of builds, keen competitors are encouraged to get creative from classic restorations and muscle cars to unique builds or one-off creations. Entrants will be judged on authenticity, creativity and “garage spirit”.
Paul Faulkner, managing director of Mattel APAC, said he is excited to see Australia’s creative side.
“Hot Wheels Legends Tour is a global competition where car enthusiasts can have their design created into a 1:64 die-cast car, just like our New Zealand winner did three years ago,” he said.
“This year, for the first time, we’re going to have a regional finale live, as part of the global competition. It’s where car enthusiasts can get up close and personal.
“Judges are looking for three things — authenticity, creativity, and garage spirit. Bring that to us in vintage cars, restorations, whatever crazy you can come up with.”
