Man killed in head-on collision along North West Coastal Highway, between Karratha and Roebourne

A man has been killed in a horror head-on collision overnight in the Pilbara. The man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was a passenger in a beige Holden Captiva that was being driven west on North West Coastal Highway, between Karratha and Roebourne on Wednesday. Police said the collision happened about 6.25pm, when a blue Toyota Hilux, driving the opposite direction, slammed head-on into the Holden near the intersection of Cleaverville Road Sadly, he suffered catastrophic injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Holden, a man aged in his 30s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Karratha Health Campus. The driver of the Toyota Hilux — a woman aged in her 50s — escaped the incident with minor injuries and was also taken to the local hospital in Karratha. Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are seeking information regarding the fatal crash.
