Whether it’s keeping Western Australian’s updated on the coronavirus crisis or securing eggs-emptions for the Easter bunny, it seems Premier Mark McGowan has never been more popular.

Now, in a show of appreciation two Facebook events have been set up encouraging members of the WA community to get behind the Premier and show their support.

The events ‘Clap for Mark McGowan’ and ‘Have a Beer for Mark McGowan’ are both planned to take place this week, and the organisers want as many people as possible to get involved. So far, more than 1000 people have indicated on Facebook that they’ll be joining in.

‘Clap for Mark McGowan’ event organiser Angie Barkley is asking people to step onto their driveways at 7pm on Thursday and applaud the Premier to thank him for the “fantastic work he is doing to keep us all safe.”

“This man deserves the biggest round of applause from us all. Let's show him his hard work is appreciated,” she said.

‘Have a Beer for Mark McGowan’ organiser Michael Soh wants to create a ‘virtual pub’ hosted through Zoom on Friday afternoon to “show West Aussies giving a toast to our Premier.”

“Normally on a Friday, West Australians will want to have drinks with their work mates in the late afternoon.

“And since our pubs are closed until further notice, I thought of the idea of getting West Australians to have a beer for Mr McGowan at 5pm on Friday from wherever they are,” he said.
