York incident: Homicide detectives release man without charge during death probe at Wheatbelt home

A 63-year-old man who was being questioned by police after a body was found inside a home in York has been released without charge. Mystery still surrounds the 76-year-old man’s death, with homicide detectives still investigating. His body was discovered after St John WA were called to a home on Avon Terrace just before 7.30am on Sunday, following reports of a deceased male. Police were alerted to the incident around 8am, before homicide detectives took charge of the investigation. “A 63-year-old man, known to the victim, is assisting police with inquiries,” a police spokeswoman said. St John WA said two ambulances attended the scene — which is around 100km east of Perth — but that nobody was transferred to hospital. WA Police on Monday morning confirmed the 63-year-old has since been released from police custody without charge.
