Kaori Patterson-Moore: Seven-month-old baby shot dead in Brooklyn, New York

WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT
A family has been left heartbroken after a seven-month-old baby was shot and killed while in a pram.
On Wednesday afternoon in Brooklyn, Lianna Charles-Moore was walking with her seven-month-old baby girl, Kaori Patterson-Moore, when a man on a moped opened fire in the street.
The mother and her child were not the target.
Lianna quickly grabbed her child and raced into a nearby bodega to shield her from danger.
Tragically, when she was safe inside the shop, she looked down and realised baby Kaori had been hit by a stray bullet.
Horrific footage has surfaced of the moment the mother first noticed that her baby had been shot, clearly beyond distressed and breaking down.
Kaori was rushed to a nearby hospital, where, sadly, she was pronounced dead.

Speaking to CBS News after the horrific incident, Lianna said, “I can’t get her back. She’s gone, and I can’t ever see her again.”
“I gotta bury her now, and I can’t even hold my baby. I can’t hold her anymore. She’s gone. She’s gone. She’s gone.”
Authorities believe the shooting was gang-related.
Grandmother Linda Oyinkoinyan told ABC7NY that Kaori was shot in the head.
“I’m devestated. This is a baby, I call her my little baby angel.”
One man, 21-year-old Amari Green, is now in custody, with NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirming he will be charged with murder after allegedly pulling the trigger for the bullet that killed the seven-month-old.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the shooting had created “an unthinkable loss”.
“I’m grateful for the hospital staff who did everything they could and the NYPD for their ongoing work to find those responsible for this heinous murder.
“We cannot accept this violence as normal. Too many families have suffered this pain.”
A major manhunt is underway for another man, who police say is wanted for homicide.
