Well, after being walked off three times in a series and a plane ride home scare it was safe to say we were looking forward to spending a couple of days at home before getting back on the plane to do it all again this weekend.

All of us at the Perth Heat knew the importance of our series against the Adelaide Giants last weekend as we try to get that top spot in the southwest conference, but it wasn’t quite to be. That wasn’t really because we didn’t play well in a lot of areas, but when you lose with three walk off hits from the opposition you know luck has played its part.

The series in Adelaide was quite heart breaking with us losing three out of the four games by walk off fashion in the last inning. Tough hitting conditions made it challenging for the offense to get anything going consistently. The pitchers did an outstanding job over the weekend and kept us in all the games.

If we thought our drama was finished there on the field in Adelaide, we had quite the experience on the plane ride home to look forward to.

On the plane ride home, we had the plane lose cabin pressure making for an emergency descent. A scary 30 minutes was ahead of us during which ran a lot of thoughts through your head. It certainly makes you appreciate the times you have with your family and friends and how lucky we are to be playing this amazing game here in the ABL.

Then just three days later we were back at the airport doing it all again. Flying into Melbourne and making the drive down to Geelong to take on Geelong-Korea we knew the importance this series has with a tight race for the top two spots in our division.

We were able to win the first game of the series 4-0 with another outstanding outing from Dylan (Sharkie) Unsworth and some big homeruns from Bojarski, Hulsizer and Qsar.

We know the ball is in our court to take care of business this weekend which we set us up for an exciting last home series with the Melbourne Aces who are currently tied with us in our division.

We will be hoping for big crowds ahead of the Aussie Day weekend and hopefully a playoff berth awaits.
