Fremantle star Shai Bolton has been pipped for Mark of the Year by Hawthorn forward Nick Watson.

Bolton was in contention after an incredible sky-scraping grab against Geelong in Round 15, but it was another Optus Stadium mark the ultimately grabbed the $50,000 prize.

In the pouring rain against West Coast, the little man had no sympathy for his fellow short-of-stature man in Liam Baker.

The former Tiger made the perfect runway for the man nicknamed ‘Wizard’ as he pulled down a stunning grab.

Watson wasn’t done there, having a few words with Baker and labelling him a “poster boy”.

“It was lucky Bakes is pretty small, so I got on his shoulders, which is nice, but it was a good sit,” he said.

“It just stuck, which was nice. Thanks to Bakes and thanks to H for kicking it as well.

“(Baker) is my housemate’s old housemate, so I gave him a bit of stick and told him he’s a bit of a poster boy, so he started lipping me at three-quarter time, and I said ‘you’re the last person to lip me, Bakes’.

Bolton’s effort was just as spectacular as the young Hawk’s but may have been left stiff with the lack of rain to add difficulty.

He even grabbed a piece of Pat Voss on the way down.

Fellow West Australian Kozzie Pickett was also in the running for the award for a great mark against St Kilda.
