WA superstar, Supercars champ Brodie Kostecki gets behind wheel of sprintcar for six shows at Perth Motorplex

In a huge boost for sprintcar racing in WA, V8 Supercars champion and Bathurst 1000 winner Brodie Kostecki will be behind the wheel for several shows in the next two months. The WA-born Kostecki drives for the Shell V-Power Racing Team in the Repco Supercars Championship but will return to the clay for six meetings in a massive coup for speedway. This week Kostecki announced he will be driving the Lucky Dogs backed #95 sprintcar at the Motorplex in February and March. He will start the venture on Friday night, part of a cracking field for night one of the Barbagallo Mr Sprintcar Nationals. The 29-year-old will also compete in the Hump Day Hustle event on February 11 and then tackle both nights of the Krikke Boys Shootout on February 13 and 14. He will then jump back into his supercar to compete in Sydney 500 on February 20-22 and the Melbourne Supersprint as part of the Australia Grand Prix on March 5-8. Between round two and three of the Repco Supercars Championship, Kostecki gets back into a sprintcar for the Australia Gold Cup on March 14 and the Speedway Grand Final on March 28. All six shows will be in front of fans at the Motorplex, which Kostecki has long been a huge fan of. “It’s been a long time since I’ve driven a sprintcar,” Kostecki told Sprint Car Hub. “I’m trying to get back behind the wheel again and race something that is going to be challenging. “Something to really challenge myself and try to help my day-to-day job, driving for Shell V-Power Racing. “I’m a really competitive person but I’ve been around speedway my whole life so I know how challenging it is...it’s definitely going to be a really steep learning curve.” A dream since he was young Kostecki raced a sprintcar in Toowoomba in 2022 and then again in 2023 before his title winning season on the bitumen. He was also keen onlooker at the Motorplex in December when the venue held the $110,000 to win High Limit International. Kostecki who started his supercars career in 2014 has 10 wins and 29 podiums to his name from 144 and won the iconic Bathurst 1000 in 2024
