Scotch College have gone a step closer to a hat-trick of Alcock Cup titles after thrashing Wesley College in a one-sided top-of-the-table PSA clash on Saturday.

It was billed as one of the games of the season but two-time reigning champs Scotch were a class above, winning by a staggering 70 points, 13.12 (90) to 2.8 (20), to go outright top.

The win was set up by a five-goal opening term against the wind, with Steve Malaxos’ charges never looking back to make a massive statement in what their coach described as the school’s best win of the season.

“We started really well early, got a few goals on the board and edged away after that,” Malaxos said.

“The first quarter set the win up really. It’s the best we’ve played all season.”

Fresh off a breakout national under-18s carnival for WA as a bottom-ager, West Coast Next Generation Academy tall Coen Livingstone dominated in the ruck.

Xavier Graham impressed across down back with James Spadanuda, Ed Graham and Kalib Dempster-Park also standing out around the ground.

Malaxos urged his team to not take the foot off the pedal with some hard games coming up in the business end of the season.

“We’ve got some tough games coming up, taking on Aquinas then Hale and Trinity who have improved so we’ve still got a bit to go,” he said.

Year 11 Sage Clarke was Wesley’s best in a losing cause, doing some great things across half-back, while captain and first-round draft fancy Reuben Ginbey was decent in the midfield in his return from State 18s duties where he won the MVP award.

But coach Michael Broadbridge conceded Scotch played the tough conditions far better from the get-go and deserved the win.

Scotch are now 8-1 and Wesley slip to 8-2 with just their second loss of the season which puts a serious dent in their hopes of breaking an 11-year Alcock Cup drought.

In other round 11 results, Christ Church defeated Guildford by 79 points, 12.12 (84) to 2.3 (15), and Aquinas were too good for Trinity, prevailing by 51, 14.14 (98) to 7.5 (47).
