Retired Aussie swimming champion Shayna Jack has returned from the Commonwealth Games, keen to explore more of Perth — the city she has recently called home.

The two-time Olympic gold medallist completed her final swim in green and gold at the Games in Glasgow, where she won two relay gold medals and two individual bronze medals after announcing it would be her final hurrah.

Jack has since returned to Perth — where she lives with her fiancé and hockey player Joel Rintala — sharing her arrival home on Instagram.

She posted several images of getting out and about in Perth with her friend and fellow swimmer Stef McCarthy.

“Back in Perth,” she captioned her post.

“Finally getting some time to explore this side of our beautiful country.

“Ticking off places I’ve wanted to visit in Perth but never had a chance.”

Some of her bucket list ideas included visiting Caversham Wildlife Park, where she cuddled a cute koala, doing hot yoga and Pilates at Best Body and eating an Acai Bros bowl at the beach.

Announcing her retirement from competitive swimming last month, Jack said she was “proud of everything in the end”.

“Sometimes it’s hard to get up knowing it was the end. Being able to compose myself was really hard. I couldn’t have done it without my teammates and my beautiful family in the stands,” she said.

“I just hope I made my country proud, and I hope everyone at home is proud of everything I’ve done, but also the person I am.”

The Brisbane-born athlete has had much success throughout her career including winning gold as part of Australia’s relay teams at the 2024 Paris Olympics and holds multiple world records.

Jack faced a devastating two-year suspension in 2019 after she tested positive for Ligandrol, despite stating she never intentionally took the prohibited substance.

She is set to tie the knot with Rintala later this year after getting engaged in August 2024.
