Victoria Police have provided a blunt update on the investigation into sexual assault claims involving several high-profile Sydney Swans players.
Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, Riley Bice, James Jordon and Nick Blakey found themselves at the centre of a police investigation last month after partying with exotic dancers into the early hours of August 17 at the Pullman Hotel.
The AFL players had been staying at the Melbourne hotel after defeating Essendon at the MCG when one of the women claimed she was sexually assaulted inside the hotel room.
All five players were suspended by Sydney Swans for the rest of the 2026 AFL season for breaching club standards.
After six weeks of scrutiny and ongoing speculation about the case, police have revealed there is no end date in sight for the ongoing probe.
Victoria Police confirmed to The Nightly on Tuesday that investigations into the alleged assault continue, with officials saying they have no time frame on when the inquiry will conclude.
The extended nature of the probe is not unusual for Victoria — with no limitation period for charges to be laid after a crime occurred, meaning police could make arrests over the incident at any time in the future.
The update comes after Victoria Police interviewed four of the Sydney players aged between 25 and 30 over the alleged crime in early September. Following the interviews, police said Riley Bice was now being treated as a witness.
In a statement released on September 2, police also revealed there were three witnesses believed to be in the room at the time of the incident.
“Police now believe they have identified all parties who were in the room at the time of the alleged incident, and are not looking for anyone further,” the statement said.
The Nightly is not suggesting any of the suspended players have committed sexual assault or any criminal wrongdoing, only that they have spoken with police.
The update comes just one week after members of the ‘Pullman Five’ addressed their Sydney Swans teammates for the first time since the scandal broke.
The group arrived at Swans HQ last Wednesday after Sydney’s season came to an end.
Forward Isaac Heeney told waiting media that the group’s meeting with their fellow players was “really good”.
“It was really nice to address the whole club,” the 30-year-old said in a short statement.
“Extremely thankful they could give us their time and understanding.”
