After a bruising performance against Collingwood, West Coast will be cautious with Harley Reid but have cleared the star Eagle of any serious injury.
Reid was hampered by leg and shoulder concerns in the loss to the Pies, but he bravely fought through the pain to finish with a team-high 29 disposals.
Fortunately for Eagles fans, Reid avoided major concerns and is still expected to face GWS this week, though the club will manage his training loads.
“Harley copped a solid knock against Collingwood,” high performance manager Phil Merriman said.
“We will nurse him through the week and expect him to be available on Sunday.”
If Reid were to go down, there are questions over one of his most likely replacements, with Elijah Hewett a test after failing to play out the Eagles’ WAFL win over Subiaco.
Hewett picked up a cork to his calf before half-time and will have to prove his fitness.
“Elijah received a nasty impact to his calf on the weekend,” Merriman said.
“He is sore, but he will be working around the clock to get himself ready to play this weekend.”
Fellow midfield option Jack Hutchinson is more likely to come back to the WAFL this week, having been a late out last week with hamstring soreness.
“Jack just came up a little short last week, but we expect him to be available for this week.”
Mid-season recruit Oli Francou continues his recovery from a knee laceration but won’t return before the end of the season while Tylah Williams’ year is done after breaking his leg in the win over the Lions.
However, the Eagles are hopeful it will not hamper his preparation for next year.
“He completed surgery on Sunday, and he is already up and walking,” Merriman said.
“We expect Tylah to commence running at around six weeks, which should allow him to complete the majority of his off-season program.”
