West Coast will manage young ruck star Cooper Duff-Tytler for their clash against Greater Western Sydney at Optus Stadium on Sunday.
Duff-Tytler has played the first nine games of the season after being drafted with pick 4 last year, but is one of two confirmed outs for the Eagles, who have adopted the name Waalitj Marawar for Sir Doug Nicholls Rounds.
The 18-year-old had some bright moments in the 32-point loss to Narrm (Melbourne), kicking 1.3 from 10 touches but he did not have a hit-out and was in line for a rest.
Key defender Harry Edwards is set for an indefinite stint on the sidelines as he goes through concussion protocols for the third time in less than three months.
Fifth-year defender Rhett Bazzo is a chance to play his first game of the season after being named on an extended bench alongside ruckman Matt Flynn, forward Jack Williams and midfielders Bo Allan and Tom Gross.
Bazzo played the last of his 28 AFL games in round 24 last season but has been in excellent form for the Eagles’ WAFL side, averaging 20 disposals and nine marks.
The 22-year-old is one of 18 Eagles out of contract at the end of this season, having signed a one-year deal which was announced last August.
Teenage midfielder Gross could also break in for his first match of the season after a strong month of form when he has averaged 24 touches.
This included a three-goal outing against Swan Districts when he also had 22 touches and six tackles.
Gross played eight games last year after being drafted with pick 46 in 2024 from the Oakleigh Chargers, but a hamstring hindered his start to this season.
Flynn could earn a recall for his first game since the 128-point belting to Sydney in round four, with Eagles coach Andrew McQualter preferring to play two ruckmen.
He has averaged 40 hit-outs and 18 touches in four WAFL appearances since being dropped and could partner Bailey Williams against Kieren Briggs on Sunday.
Williams has not played since the 101-point loss to Euro-Yroke (St Kilda) in round seven, while Allan was also axed after the defeat to the Saints in a call which irked fans.
In a boost to the Eagles’ hopes, the Giants will be without star spearhead Jesse Hogan who has not been named after he battled a hip injury.
Hogan booted an equal career-best nine goals the last time he played the Eagles in round four last year, but has not got up for the trip west.
The Giants have named forward Callum Brown, uncapped backman Harrison Oliver and midfielder Ryan Angwin on an extended bench, which will be trimmed to 23 on Friday afternoon.
