Emerging West Coast forward Jake Waterman has become the latest Eagle to have a line drawn through his 2022 campaign after undergoing knee surgery.

Waterman, 24, will miss the club’s final game of the season against Geelong on Saturday, despite not being featured on West Coast’s official injury list on Tuesday.

He is now the 12th player unavailable for selection in round 23 due to injury.

“Jake has been troubled by his knee but continued putting his hand up to play and has been a strong contributor in the back half of the year,” West Coast football manager Gavin Bell told club media.

“Unfortunately, his knee got to the point where it was becoming more restrictive and it was necessary to send Jake for surgery.”

Waterman, the son of Eagles dual premiership star Chris, has played 20 games this season, including two as the medical sub and kicked a career-best 18 goals.

West Coast star ruckman Nic Naitanui is also expected to miss the road trip to GMHBA Stadium as he continues to battle knee soreness.

Former Cat Jamaine Jones, who was subbed off in the Eagles’ 24-point loss to Fremantle on Saturday with back spasms, is on track to play, while Tim Kelly and Jai Culley are set to return from suspension.

West Coast will also be without Elliot Yeo and Jack Petruccelle, who failed in their bids to return for round 23.

The pair joined Jeremy McGovern, Dom Sheed, Tom Joyce, Callum Jamieson, Connor West on the sidelines earlier this week as well as Oscar Allen, Campbell Chesser, Tom Cole and Luke Edwards, who remain on the inactive list.

Meanwhile, Eagles star Andrew Gaff remains in the mix to play Geelong despite limping off the training track at Mineral Resources Park on Tuesday.
