Public transport users were warned to expect delays to some train services after lightning struck on Thursday night.

Trains on the Mandurah and Joondalup lines experienced delays for several hours since about 5pm due to electrical problems caused by lightning.

Transperth advised trains on both lines resumed to regular timetables at 9pm.

“Please allow extra travelling time and be aware that delayed trains may not connect with timetabled bus and train services,” a statement said.
