Soccer: The Socceroos are out for what would be a historic first win in a World Cup knockout game against Egypt in Dallas.
A 0-0 draw with Paraguay in their final group stage game made a certainty of Australia qualifying for the newly-expanded round of 32. They have waited more than a week for this game, having last played on Friday WST time.
Meanwhile, Egypt slipped into second amid a chaotic finish to Group G - but global superstar Mohamed Salah, who limped from the field in their 1-1 draw with Iran, has been passed fit and will start.

Extra time looms
Are we destined for extra time here?
Both teams have grown a bit more cagey over the last few minutes as the expiration of regular time approaches.

Substitute x2
Tony Popovic has made two changes to his attacking stocks.
Ajdin Hrustic and Mo Toure have been introduced for Cristian Volpato and Nestory Irankunda.

Premiership quarter won
Does the ‘premiership quarter’ analogy translate to soccer’s brave new world with hydration breaks?
Maybe not, but Australia were the winners of the third quarter.
The Socceroos have their equaliser and are now on the hunt for a winner.

Cheeky commentary
Expert commentator Luke Wilkshire was frustrated by Egypt’s antics after they took the lead and seems happy the game is now back on level terms.
“It’s a good finish, Bash,” he sarcastically told his SBS co-commentator David Basheer after a replay of Mohamed Hany’s own goal was shown.
‘63: AUS 1-1 EGY
Souttar threatening
The Socceroos are beginning to seriously threaten from set pieces.
Harry Souttar stands a head taller than Egypt’s entire side and good things are happening when the deliveries are reaching the imposing defender.

Australia equalise!
The Socceroos have finally got a set piece right!
Aiden O’Neill won a free kick and sent a stinging delivery deep into the box.
What initially looked to be a flick into the net from Harry Souttar has instead turned out to be an own goal from Mohamed Hany, but the Socceroos will not mind one bit.
‘55: AUS 1-1 EGY
All happening
It’s all happening early in the second half!
After neither Harry Souttar nor Connor Metcalfe could get to the back post and knock in an equaliser, Mohamed Hany stayed down after copping what looked to be a blow to the head.
Surprisingly, the Egypt right-back was initially cleared to continue, but is now on the sidelines.
‘49: AUS 0-1 EGY
Egypt go so close again!
Barely 10 seconds into the second half, Egypt very nearly had their second!
Substitute Kai Trewin was caught napping by Omar Marmoush, who ghosted in behind but sent a massive chance wide.
‘46: AUS 0-1 EGY
Bos substituted off
And now Jordy Bos’ substitution out of the game has been confirmed.
He will be replaced by Kai Trewin, who will be making his first appearance for the tournament.
HT: AUS 0-1 EGY
Bos looks done
Jordy Bos was carried from the pitch and looked very ginger.
It would be a huge surprise if the Socceroos star was able to take his place for the second half, which would be a hammer blow.
Australia’s assistant coach Paul Okon termed the tackle from Egypt’s Ramy Rabia which resulted in Bos going down as “terrible”.
