West Coast coach Andrew McQualter marvelled at Harley Reid’s willingness to battle on in the contest despite the superstar being hindered by a badly corked quad in their 19-point defeat to Collingwood.

He ended the day with 28 disposals, a game-high 11 clearances as well as a goal.

His pace is not what it used to be but his strength and poise are still valuable.

For West Coast and Collingwood, Sunday afternoon’s clash was always going to hinge on the outings of respective superstars in Nick Daicos and Harley Reid.

The Eagles have fallen short of another comeback at Optus Stadium.

How would you sum it up, Eagles fans?

The Eagles have done very well to fight back after falling 34 points behind in the third term but they will be disappoited with yet another loss.

Daicos was incredible with nearly 40 touches and 10 clearances while Lachie Schultz showed all his craft up forward.

The Eagles’ defence can hold their heads fairly high despite giving up 17 goals as there’s not much they can do to stop turnovers higher up the field.

Reid derserves big credit for playing the whole match with a bad corky and still being the home side’s best player with 30 touches and seven clearances.

The Eagles are just hanging in to not conceed.

They are really struggling to get forward and there’s only two minutes left.
