Guzman y Gomez strikes deal with Uber Eats as it looks to ramp up delivery sales

Guzman y Gomez has struck a multi-year deal with popular online food ordering platform Uber Eats as it looks to ramp up delivery sales growth.
Delivery now accounts for about 27 per cent of Guzman’s total Australian sales in the first-half of the 2026 financial year, making it a key growth driver for the business, the Mexican-themed chain said on Friday.
Under the deal, Uber Eats will become Guzman’s sole third-party delivery partner in Australia from February 22.
It comes after Coles announced a similar exclusivity deal with Uber Eats last month, while Woolworths has partnered with rival DoorDash.
Guzman founder and co-chief executive Steven Marks said the partnership would make it even easier for customers to enjoy its fresh and clean food wherever they are.
“Our guests love the convenience of delivery, and this exclusive partnership with Uber Eats means we can serve them even better,” he said.
Guzman attributed the near 19-per cent jump in sales for the September quarter to menu innovations like its new Caesar menu items, which include the Caesar Burrito and Caesar Cali Burrito.
Comparable sales grew 4 per cent in Australia and were up 6.7 per cent in the US.
It was a slight improvement from the trading update provided during its full-year result in August, when Guzman revealed sales in the Australian segment grew just 3.7 per cent over the first seven weeks of the 2026 financial year, well below consensus of 7.6 per cent.
Uber Eats ANZ managing director Ed Kitchen said it was excited to take its nine-year partnership with Guzman to the next level.
The deal only applies to Australia, with Guzman saying it will continue to work with multiple delivery partners in the US, Singapore and Japan.
Guzman is set to unveil half-year results on February 20.
